How to put yourself out there, be more visible and overcome your fears

I’ve been getting out there in a much bigger way since the launch of my new book and becoming a bestseller. Becoming more visible is the only way I can have greater impact with my work. I’ve been invited for tv interviews, morning talk shows (you can find me on Global Morning news this Friday, March 8th at 9:30am for a special on International Women’s Day), featured in news articles and magazines with well-known media companies to talk about empowering women.


Putting yourself out there can feel vulnerable and we often hold ourselves back, sometimes without even realizing it. We fear failure, judgement and worry “what if I mess up and say something wrong?” We may think we aren’t good enough, that we haven’t achieved enough like all the “other” successful people.


Yet being more courageous and increasing our visibility will help you to fully step into your leadership potential and live a life with passion and purpose.


When we stay in our comfort zone, we are playing small. When we step out of our comfort zone and do the things that scare us, we grow. And that’s why you are here — to play bigger and have more impact.


Playing bigger is easy when we are in “the zone”. Meaning doing work that is part of our life purpose. Our passion flows easily and effortlessly.


So how do you overcome your fears and limiting beliefs so that you can step further into YOUR purpose?

1. Observe your thoughts

Get quiet and focus on what thoughts are going through your mind. What stories are you telling yourself?

2. Reflect and remain unattached

What change would you like to make in your life? What fears come up for you as you consider making a change?

3. Reframe your story

How much of your fears are based in truth? Or are they based in what others believe or might believe, and you find yourself believing them too? How can you reframe these stories to overcome your fears so you can move forward more courageously?

4. Step into your next level YOU and challenge the impossible

If you were not afraid, what would you do to be more visible and get out there in a bigger way? What is the worst and best possible outcome of doing the thing that scares you?

5. Take one step forward and celebrate.

Taking courageous action sets you free and it’s the best way to overcome your fears. Inaction keeps you stuck. When you take courageous action you feel empowered and energized to take more action! Celebrate each small step as you move closer to the next level YOU!
